Ieshima Construction Company Limited (ICCL) is a Japanese marine civil engineering and construction company with a rich history spanning over a century, founded in 1919. The company is renowned for its extensive fleet of work vessels and its involvement in significant marine construction projects in Japan, including reclamation and airport construction.
Stellar Ocean Pte Ltd (SOPL) was established as a spin-off from the largest dredging company in the Southeast Asian market in 2024, with operations based in Indonesia and Singapore. SOPL excels due to its highly skilled workforce, boasting a proven track record in construction and extensive experience across Singapore, Indonesia, and other Southeast Asian countries.
ICCL faced a declining number of dredging and reclamation projects in Japan, leading to underutilization of its work vessels. The company sought new markets, identifying Southeast Asia as a promising region but needing experienced personnel and a strategy to transport its large work vessels overseas.
Conversely, SOPL had a wealth of experience and a skilled workforce but lacked the necessary work vessels to execute projects effectively. As a newly established company, it required reliable assets to gain market trust.
ICCL and SOPL were introduced through a mutual client during negotiations for the sale of a work vessel. As the discussions progressed, both companies realized their complementary strengths and the potential for a strong partnership.
On February 29, 2024, JUTURNA was founded, marking the beginning of their collaboration. By April 2024, JUTURNA had secured its first major project, officially launching their joint venture.
